Laguna Torre
Date: April 4th, 2023
Location: El Chalten, Argentina
Laguna Torre is the name of the lake at the base of Cerro Torre; another gorgeous mountain that can be seen and reached from the town of El Chalten. The hiking trail from the town to this lake is the most colorful forest I’v ever seen. While not being difficult or intense in any physical way, this trail did present quite the challenge once I reached the final destination and that was the gale force winds awaiting anyone who reaches the lake. Regardless of how intense the winds were at the end of the trail, the entire route was a beautiful, colorful, tranquil and relaxing hike through what has to be the most beautiful forest in Argentina.a
When the destination looks so near…
This is the view from El Mirador Cascada Margarita; a viewpoint near the start of the trail. From here, one can see waterfalls across the valley, and in the distance in this photo, you can see the mountains, ice field and glacier that feeds the lake at our final destination.
Glaciers in the Fall
El Chalten in the Fall, has to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. The trees and bushes during this time of year have a vast range of color. And throughout this colorful landscape is the consistent backdrop of glacier-covered mountains.
Cerro Torre
The east face of Cerro Torre relinquishes a blast of ice-cold wind that I’ve never felt before. Here, one can find one of the many glaciers in El Parque Nacional de los Glaciares in the Patagonia region of Argentina.
