I was blessed with the opportunity to be a house sitter for an absolute angel of a woman who I met through a mutual friend a few years prior. I got to live in the town of San Rivas in Costa Rica; a small town with about 400 people. I enjoyed the solitude and my daily walks through the forest. The town is full of amazing people and restaurants with a hospitality that is incomparable. About 3 weeks into my stay, I met a woman who asked me if I’d been to the waterfall at the end of my road yet. I hadn’t gone much further down the dirt road because Google maps showed that the road ended in another 100 feet. She told me to meet her outside the house the next day and to wear hiking boots and bring swim trunks.
The next morning, she was there, bright and early, and took me on an uphill stroll further down the street I’d been calling home. I had no idea what awaited me. At the end of the road was a path into the forest, and after a few minutes of walking through it, we came upon this wonderfully secluded spot. Filled with plant life and a fresh mountain waterfall, I couldn’t imagine not knowing that place was there. Just another reason that it pays off to meet and talk to everyone you can. This ended up being a wonderful day of both exertion and relaxation, and I’m so thankful that I got the opportunity to partake in it.
