Day Three of the Salkantay Trek

Date: April 9th, 2022

Max Elevation: 9,186ft/2,800m

After the challenge that was Day 2, it was such a relief to enjoy a short 7.5 mile (12km) hike to our next campsite. The trail led us along the side of a valley with a gorgeous view of the mountains and the clearest view down the valley for miles. This day was just what I needed to recover from the freezing hike the day before. Even though I did the whole hike with a merciless cold!

One of many waterfalls

From across the valley, we could see countless waterfalls, that seemed so close yet were, at times, miles away.

The beauty of the Andes

Many may think of the Andes as snow-capped mountains, but there are so many lush jungles in the same mountain range.

The Path

It’s still surreal to know that I hiked along this trail for miles. This view looks like a dream
